BUTLER WATER SUPPLY CORPORATION
The Butler Water Supply Corporation water system is located in Freestone County, east of the City of Fairfield.
Butler WSC was formed in 1964 when families living in and near the communities of Red Lake and Butler formed
a non-profit corporation for the purpose of developing a central water system.
The Corporation was organized under Article 1434a of the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, 1925. Construction of
the water system was financed through a $74,000 loan from Farmers Home Administration. The original system
consisted of one 60 gpm deep well, one hydro-pneumatic plant near Red Lake, and numerous distribution lines.
